The inaugural edition of the Kaduna Book & Arts Festival (KABAFEST), will take place on 5-8 July 2017 at the Gusau Institute in Kaduna State.
The festival is aimed at celebrating the wealth of literary and artistic creativity in Northan Nigeria. And also, the festival was inspired by the need to create “new and exciting opportunities for social and cultural interaction…in the Northern region of Nigeria.”
The festival will feature the following;
- Book chats,
- Panel discussions,
- Film screenings,
- Poetry performances,
- Art exhibitions, and
Sudanese novelist, Leila Aboulela is going to make an appearance at the festival, joined by other top literary icons, Including Balaraba Ramat Yakubu, Abubakar Adam Ibrahim and Tonj Kan.
Leila Aboulela will also run a writing workshop for women writers only. Entry for the workshop is free. But there are only 20 slots. Hurry to apply here
Part on events lined up for the inauguration include Secondary school students poetry contest.
University students and students in other tertiary institutions are allowed to attend the event for free, as long as they apply online before July 5th.
